How to Include a Hyperlink in an Email

Would you like to send your centers professional emails with links to training materials and videos, documents, and more!? If you simply copy the URL (www.blah.com/blahdiblah/blah) and paste it into your email, your reader will see the entire URL, forward slashes and all.  Instead, you can make your words the hyperlink. For example, you can type “click here to view the website” and make the word “here” the hyperlink.

To hyperlink a word or a group of words, first, type your email in Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Word. Then, highlight the word(s) that you wish to be the hyperlink, and right click. Select the “hyperlink” option. At the bottom of the window that is displayed is a field for “Address” – this is where you paste your URL. Then hit OK.

    Hyperlink

If you are using Microsoft Word and don’t see the “hyperlink” option when you right-click on the word(s) you would like to represent the URL, click on the “Insert” tab at the top of the screen. Click the “Links” button and select the “Hyperlinks” option to display the address window.

If you’re using another program look for the hyperlink symbol (it may look like a sideways “8” which is actually supposed to look like chain links with a globe in the background).  Highlight the word you wish to link, and then click the hyperlink button.

Now you can have professional emails that say things like click here to view our training website and click here to go to our homepage.

    Happy Linking!

  • Exciting New Features for Minute Menu CX

Exciting New Features for Minute Menu CX

The Minute Menu CX Team is happy to share some exciting news! We will soon launch a brand-new set of features to help sponsors manage their support staff’s access to Minute Menu CX. These features allow centers to have more than one set of login credentials. Centers can now have a center administrator with a higher level of permissions than other users. Centers can also assign users to other roles, each of which has its own set of permissions.

Minute Menu CX customers have asked for features like these, and we have listened! We are actively building the solution right now.

Our development team expects to roll out these new features during the Summer of 2014. Keep your eye on this blog for more information. We will post screen captures and notes to help prepare you to hit the ground running once these exciting new features arrive.

  • Promoting More Fruits and Vegetables

    Promoting More Fruits and Vegetables

You have the chance to change the lives of hundreds or even thousands of children in your very own community by encouraging providers to start serving more fruits and vegetables, now. Meal pattern changes are just around the corner, but why wait. Start a campaign for change today!

To see the current status of fruits and vegetables being served at your agency, take a look at the Fruit/Vegetable Analysis report in Minute Menu HX. Does the report display a lot of providers? This report will, by default, list all providers who have claimed fewer than 2 fruits/vegetables in any week at either breakfast or snack.

Here are some ideas for starting your campaign:

    • Set a start and end date for your campaign (2 – 4 month timeframe), get ramped up, and have fun with it!
    • Have a brainstorming session with your staff to come up with ideas to encourage providers to serve more fruits and veggies.
    • Write a series of short emails with fun recipes that the kids will go bananas over!
      • Find recipes submitted by providers on the ChildCareInfo.com website click here to view and/or,
      • Find recipes created by kids themselves or use the Healthy Snack Finder on the Kids Teaching Kids website, by clicking here.
    • Use the Message Center in Minute Menu HX to send messages to providers who claim online (Tools >> Manage Messages >> Send Broadcast Messages)
    • Send providers a cute flyer that they can display on the wall. Click here to see the ChooseMyPlate.gov flyer on kid-friendly veggies and fruits, and click here to see the entire list of free downloadable flyers.
    • Host a training session for providers and make it fun! Here are some ideas:
      • Ask one of your star providers who serves a lot of fruits and veggies to share their ideas, suggestions, and inspirations.
      • Pass out fruit or vegetable seed packets to providers to plant with the children (ask your local nursery for donations).
      • Show one of the training videos on ChooseMyPlate.gov – click here
      • Pass out the MyPlate flyer in pink, blue or green!
      • Show your providers the ChooseMyPlate website. It has learning materials for children as well!
    • Start a social media account and have providers send you their pictures of healthy eating to share on your social media page.
    • Have a week that you dedicate to fruits
      • Send an email about fruit
      • Share fruit recipe ideas on social media
      • Mail or email flyers about fruit, click here
      • Introduce a new/rare fruit – have you ever had a lychee? How about a star fruit? Or a cumquat?
    • Have a week dedicated to veggies!

After your campaign, run the Fruit/Vegetable Analysis report again, and compare the numbers to see how your campaign affected the foods served by your providers.

Next on the agenda, a campaign for more whole grains!

  • Windows XP and HX Support

    Windows XP and HX Support

Beginning in April, 2014 Microsoft will stop providing support for Windows XP, and will stop sending updates to those using the XP operating system. Minute Menu will continue to provide as much support as possible for our clients who run the XP operating system when using Minute Menu products. If we determine that a problem we are troubleshooting is a direct result of a compatibility issue with Windows XP, and not a software issue within the Minute Menu application, we most likely will not be able to provide a fix for that problem.

Unfortunately we cannot predict what kind of problems our clients might experience when using Minute Menu software products within an unsupported operating system. We can, however, promise to do our best to make your experience with Minute Menu software products as positive and efficient as possible.

For more information from Microsoft about ending support for the XP operating system, please visit the Microsoft website at:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/enterprise/endofsupport.aspx

This link provides information on the reason Microsoft will no longer support XP, what the ending of support means for you, and how to migrate to a newer operating system.

If you have questions regarding Minute Menu software products, please contact our technical support team.

  • National CACFP Week

    National CACFP Week

This week is National Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Week.  No one will dispute that our nation’s children need nutritious food to grow to their healthy, full potential.  This article from Time magazine highlights how difficult this can be in a childcare setting.  All across the country these small businesses are challenged with balancing the need for nutritious food and the need to keep their child care businesses operating in the black.  The CACFP can help them bridge the funding gap, but as this article illustrates, the complexity of the program can be difficult for child care providers to navigate without advocates and mentors to help them along the way.  Our software is one of the ways that participants can help manage the complexities of the CACFP.  But even with good tools in place it is still important for us to advocate for measures that make program participation easier and make the program itself more accessible to those who need it most.

  • Minute Menu Creates Utility for Procare Software to Integrate Food Program Management Functionality with Child Center Management Software

Minute Menu Creates Utility for Procare Software to Integrate Food Program Management Functionality with Child Center Management Software

Minute Menu LLC, the premier developer of child care center food program management software products, is proud to announce a partnership with Procare Software, a leader in the child care center software industry. Procare Software users now have access to the features of Minute Menu CX to help manage and streamline the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) claims and reimbursement process.

Minute Menu LLC has developed a utility that allows Procare Software to add Minute Menu CX functionality to its child center management software. This utility is designed to help child care centers reconcile child and guardian identification numbers from Minute Menu CX to Procare, and to transfer new child enrollment information from Procare to Minute Menu CX.

“Procare Software is the first center management software developer to take advantage of the technology Minute Menu has developed to allow for the integration of Minute Menu CX functionality with existing center software,” said Natalie Clark, Chief Operating Officer of Minute Menu LLC.

The integration of Minute Menu CX with Procare Software eliminates the need for child care centers to manually enter meal totals for reimbursement, or to rely solely on the totals determined by a separate software solution.

Integrating Minute Menu CX with existing child care center management software provides a level of compliance verification that is not available when child care centers use two separate software solutions – one to manage day-to-day operations and a separate one to manage CACFP claims.

“Through our new Integration Services, we have made it easy for center management software to handle its core business and seamlessly integrate family enrollment data with our Minute Menu CX product,” said Jeffrey Sullivan, Chief Technology Officer of Minute Menu. “Our customers are able to leverage their investments in both software systems while eliminating duplicate data-entry.”

Minute Menu LLC is excited about the successful integration of Minute Menu CX with Procare Software’s products, and looks forward to future partnerships with center management software developers.

“The integration of Minute Menu CX functionality gives center management software vendors the opportunity to expand their offerings and to provide increased value for their clients,” said Clark. She added that Minute Menu products can be integrated easily with a variety of software solutions.

Child care centers that already use both Minute Menu CX and Procare Software can download the free Minute Menu CX utility to create a truly integrated child food program management workflow.

  • New App for Centers

    New App for Centers

We are pleased to announce the availability of our new mobile app for Minute Menu CX™—cx2go™!  cx2go allows center staff to use their iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch to record meal counts, attendance, and in/out times for children without having to be in front of a computer.  Having center staff enter this information directly into cx2go can save time, paperwork, and money!

cx2go is available as a free download from Apple’s iTunes App Store.  The app will work on the iPhone, iPad, and the iPod Touch.  Centers can also access the application from our mobile site, cx2go.mobi, on any computer using the Chrome or Safari browsers. (This includes Mac and PC computers.)

Your centers can move seamlessly between their regular Minute Menu CX™ program and cx2go™.  The data from both is saved in real time and available immediately.

The cx2go app is for center teachers/staff to use to record meal counts, attendance, and in/out times for children.

Centers will still need Minute Menu CX installed on a computer to do other things like plan/record menus, submit the claim, etc.  But the app can seriously help stream line the data entry process and save centers time and money.  The app is free to download and costs nothing extra to use.

We will not be notifying your centers directly of this availability.  If you feel your centers would be interested in using this app, we recommend that you send out a notice via the Message Center in Minute Menu CX™!  To access the message center, go to Tools>>Message Center, or click the envelope icon located on the Minute Menu CX Sponsor Dashboard.  Click here to see an introductory video on the Sponsor Dashboard.

We are in the process of developing cx2go™ for Android phones, Android tablets and Amazon’s Kindle Fire.  We will notify you as soon as they become available.
